Edwina's Story
"The big take away for me having cancer was to start to put myself first. It's like the safety announcement on an airplane - place your oxygen mask on first before assisting others. I've been investing in myself and my health ever since. 2019 has been an amazing year for me…where I have faced my fears and been rewarded. I’m happier in myself and to top it off have recently met a lovely guy"
In April 2014 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. After two years of treatments including a mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation therapy, I wasn’t going to let cancer define me…I needed to get my confidence back.
I started training and improving my eating habits.
The big take away for me having cancer was to start to put myself first. It’s like the safety announcement on an airplane – place your oxygen mask on first before assisting others. I’ve been investing in myself and my health ever since.
In October 2018 I resigned from my full time career as an Associate Interior Designer for the largest Commercial Interior Design company in Australia. I decided it was the right time to take on my biggest challenge of starting my own transformation business. To get me off to the best start possible I decided to invest in myself and my business by selecting Mel and Ronnie Oliech as my business and transformation mentors.
Apart from my business objectives, I was looking for a partner. I was newly divorced after 4 years of separation and want to put myself out there as a confident and successful woman to attract a high quality partner.
My goals in 2019 were
To strive for greater muscle definition in my abs, quads, glutes and biceps
To achieve greater self-confidence to push me forward and put myself out there both professionally and my relationships with others.
I’ve taken a huge risk leaving my career in Interior Design to focus on my new business. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make this a success. I’ve been dreaming of making this a reality for over 12 years
The biggest thing I’ve learned is not to be a perfectionist. I’ve established a new routine with my food and exercise that works for me because it is achievable. I’ve stopped feeling guilty about non-compliant meals and have enjoyed spending more time outdoors walking and riding my bike, instead of just training in the gym. I have gained confidence as a trainer because I can see how my body has changed and people are taking the time to tell me they are noticing too…so it must be true.
I wasn’t looking forward to the photoshoot and almost pulled out as I’m not comfortable in front of cameras. I had lots of trouble deciding what to wear and what style of shots I should pose. I decided to stick with workout shots to use to promote my transformation business. Mel guided me on the day and I’m glad I stepped out of my comfort zone. Completing the photoshoot has been a big part of the process to help me feel more confident.
Reflecting on my first year in business I’m really excited that I have reached a level of success that will allow me to continue on an upward trajectory…bring on 2020!!!
2019 has been an amazing year for me…where I have faced my fears and been rewarded. I’m happier in myself and to top it off have recently met a lovely guy.
